Our brain is a black box where no sound, no image or colour exists.
Our brain interprets signals and gives them a meaning.
However for some people sound is not just a vibration that travels trough air.
It can evoke completely involuntary experiences of colours, shapes and textures.
THE SOUND BOXES
This was the part of my explorations that joins together tree majors aspects of my research - sound, image and the syntesthetes. To begin with I turned to synesthetic audience and gave each responded the same sound sample. Subsequently audience would listen to this sound piece and give me their synesthetic visions in written form.
Further on I design speakers that would carry the synesthetic message. Together with sound designer we completed the design with sound compositions that consist of text that I received from respondents.
